How does Share The Love work?

  1. The Adviser should promote the Share The Love offer with the customer in their initial conversation, so the Customer can explain the promotion to a Loved One and ask if they are happy for the Customer to share their name, phone number and email with AIA and for AIA to contact them about the promotion.
  2. The Customer applies for an eligible policy and provides their Loved One's details via eApp.
  3. The Customer's policy is issued.
  4. The Loved One has 30 days to accept or decline the offer from AIA's email.
  5. If the Loved One accepts, they provide AIA with their full name, date of birth, contact phone number, email, and residency status, and agree to the AIA Everyday Life cover terms and conditions.
  6. The Loved One is covered by AIA Everyday Life cover for six months and receives a confirmation email with the Adviser’s contact details should they want to discuss their future insurance needs.
  7. AIA will let the Adviser know that the Loved One has accepted the free cover. The Adviser can then make an introductory call to the Loved One to introduce themselves and answer any questions they may have about the promotion.
  8. At four months, AIA emails the Loved One a reminder that their cover will soon end. AIA will provide Advisers a report of the Loved Ones whose cover is due to expire. This would be a good time for the Adviser to check in with the Loved One to have a conversation about their insurance needs.

  • Which policies are eligible for gifting a free AIA Everyday Life policy?

    Any new individual AIA Living risk policy (Personal, Business), AIA Private Health policy or ASB LSP (Personal, Business or Health) policy submitted during the eligibility period (28 September 2020 to 28 February 2021) and issued by 30 April 2021.

    Increases in cover (top-ups) are eligible only when the benefit is fully underwritten and issued under a new policy that meets the eligibility criteria.

    Your customer may nominate one Loved One for each eligible policy issued.

  • Which policies are not eligible for gifting a free AIA Everyday Life policy?

    • Start-Up Income Protection
    • Any policy that replaces an existing policy and/or benefit
    • Any special events or future insurability increase, or buy-back or premium conversions
    • Any rider benefits such as Waiver of Premium, Redundancy, Accidental Injury, Retirement Protection
    • A compulsory workplace risk product
    • Any policy held by a customer who:
      • is not a New Zealand Resident
      • does not reside in New Zealand
      • is a New Zealand Resident but does not reside in New Zealand.
  • Who can be a Loved One?

    To be eligible for the AIA Everyday Life cover, a Loved One:

    • must be between the ages of 18 and 65; and
    • must be a New Zealand Resident who resides in New Zealand; and
    • cannot be the customer.
  • How do customers get the Loved One offer?

    When your customer applies for a new eligible policy, your customer will have the opportunity to nominate a Loved One to receive AIA Everyday Life free cover for 6 months. Your customer must have the Loved One's consent to make this nomination.

    When your customer is issued with a new eligible policy, the nominated Loved One will be sent an invitation to take AIA Everyday Life free cover for 6 months.

    • AIA will email your customer to let them know that we will be inviting their nominated Loved One to accept the free cover.
    • We will send an invitation to the nominated Loved One offering the free cover with links to key information, such as eligibility criteria, T&Cs, exclusions, and FAQs.
    • The nominated Loved One will need to confirm basic details and accept the offer.
  • How long is the offer to the Loved One valid for?

    The Loved One has 30 days from the date the offer is made to accept or decline the offer. The campaign ends on 28 February 2021. The customer's application must be submitted before 28 February 2021 to qualify. The final policy issue date is 30 April 2021.

  • Will AIA provide the Loved One's details to me to discuss their insurance needs prior to the 6 months period of cover ending?

    We will let the Adviser or Insurance Manager know that the Loved One has accepted the free cover. The Adviser or Insurance Manager can then make an introductory call to the Loved One to introduce themselves and answer any questions they may have about the promotion.

    The Loved One will be given your details when their cover is confirmed so they may contact you earlier to discuss the offer or their insurance needs.

    After 4 months AIA will send an email to the Loved One to let them know that their cover is ending. We will provide the Adviser or ASB Insurance Manager details to the Loved One in the email. We will contact the Adviser or ASB Insurance Manager and provide details to contact the Loved One to start the advice process.

  • Does AIA follow up if the Loved One doesn't respond to the offer email?

    Yes, AIA will send a reminder email to the Loved One if they have not responded within 2 weeks of the initial offer email being sent.

  • What happens if a Loved One changes their mind after declining the offer and wants to accept?

    We can manually change their selection and process as if they have accepted. The Campaign Admin will process the request and contact the Loved One by email. Any requests that come to you should be referred to the Campaign Admin, Lynn Crooney at nz.sharethelove@aia.com.

  • What happens if a Loved One changes their mind after accepting the offer and wants to decline?

    We can manually change their selection and process as if they have declined. The Campaign Admin will process the request and contact the Loved One by email to confirm the selection change. Any requests that come to you should be referred to the Campaign Admin, Lynn Crooney at nz.sharethelove@aia.com.

  • What if the Loved One receiving the free cover has been deferred/declined in the past?

    The nominated Loved One can still receive the free cover. Once it has expired you can contact them to discuss their needs as per current processes.

  • Following the expiry of the 6-months free cover, can any new policy be a continuation of cover with no further underwriting?

    No. A customer can replace their existing AIA Everyday Life policy at any stage during the life of the policy or take out a new policy at any time after the expiry of the 6-months free cover with a fully underwritten AIA Living policy, Private Health or ASB LSP policy. This will be subject to full underwriting.

  • Can a Loved One be nominated more than once and be issued more than one free policy?

    The Loved One can be nominated more than once but they are only eligible for one free AIA Everyday Life policy, irrespective of how many times they are nominated.

  • What does the AIA Everyday Life free policy cover?

    For full product information, including details of the exclusions (Pre-Existing Conditions (PEC); Hazardous Activity, and suicide or attempted suicide) and policy wording, please refer to the AIA Everyday Life product training pack.

    The claims risk is managed with a pre-existing condition exclusion (PEC); hazardous activity exclusion, and suicide exclusion, which is assessed at time of claim.

  • What are the limitations of the AIA Everyday Life policy?

    Cover is in place for 6-months and is limited to $50,000 life cover (death and terminal illness).

    Pre-Existing Conditions (PEC), Hazardous activities and suicide, or attempted suicide are excluded from the policy.

  • Can a Loved One transfer ownership of their AIA Everyday Life policy?

    AIA Everyday Life is a single life assured product.

    The Loved One cannot transfer ownership to another person.

  • What happens at the end of the 6-month cover period?

    Near the end of the AIA Everyday Life period, AIA will send the Loved One an email to remind them that the policy is due to come to an end.

    The email will invite the Loved One to contact you (your details will be provided) if they wish to continue to be covered and to discuss their insurance needs and their cover options.

    The AIA Everyday Life cover cannot be extended.

  • What if the Loved One wants to purchase a policy during the 6-months free stage? Do they keep their 6 months and can they re-gift it?

    They may apply to purchase a new policy at any time during your AIA Everyday Life 6-months free cover. They will keep their 6-months free cover. However, they cannot transfer ownership of the 6-month free cover to another person. If they purchase an eligible policy during the eligibility period (28 September 2020 to 28 February 2021) they may nominate a Loved One in the same way they were nominated for the AIA Everyday Life free cover.

  • What happens to the Loved One's personal information? Will AIA use it for marketing or other purposes?

    We know that how we collect, use, disclose and protect the Loved Ones information is important to them, and we value their trust. That's why protecting their information and being clear about what we do with it is a vital part of our relationship with them. Our Privacy Statement at www.aia.co.nz/privacy outlines how we do this, please take the time to read it.

    If the Loved One declines the offer of cover, their personal information collected as part of the Share the Love Campaign will be deleted and will not be used for future marketing.

    If they have accepted the offer, their personal information will be collected, held, used and disclosed by AIA:

    • to administer the Share the Love campaign, including:
      • communicating with them about the AIA Everyday - Life cover, such as confirming the free cover and reminding them when the free cover is due to expire;
      • providing their contact details to you so you can contact the Loved One to provide support on their free cover, and have a conversation with them about their insurance needs; and
      • as otherwise set out in our Privacy Statement.

    The Loved One has the right to access and request correction of information held by us about them. To contact us for this purpose, please refer to our Privacy Statement.

    If the Loved One is contacted by an ASB Insurance Manager about AIA Everyday – Life, then ASB's privacy statement will also apply. This can be found here: www.asb.co.nz/privacy

  • Are there any charges or fees associated with the AIA Everyday Life policy?

    AIA Everyday Life cover is a free policy. No charges or fees apply.

  • Does the free-look period apply to the AIA Everyday Life policy?

    There is no free-look period with AIA Everyday Life. An AIA Everyday Life customer may cancel their policy at any time by contacting us on 0800 500 108 or emailing nz.sharethelove@aia.com.

  • Are Loved Ones eligible for Airpoints™, AIA Vitality and MBD with AIA Everyday Life?

    No. AIA Everyday Life policies are not eligible for Airpoints™, AIA Vitality and Multi Benefit Discount.

  • How does the customer make a claim?

    If the situation arises where a customer needs to make a claim, we can be contacted on 0800 500 108 or emailed at enquireNZ@aia.com.

  • Replacement Rules

    At any stage during the life of the policy, a customer can replace their existing AIA Everyday Life policy with a fully underwritten AIA Living policy, Private Health policy, or ASB LSP policy - this will be subject to full underwriting.

Terms and Conditions

AIA Services New Zealand and its affiliate companies (AIA) want you to Share The Love, and give someone you care about a little gift from us – free insurance. Simply take out an eligible AIA insurance policy or ASB Lifestyle Security Plan between 28 September 2020 and 28 February 2021, and we'll gift $50,000 free AIA Everyday - Life cover to your chosen loved one for six months.

The terms and conditions (Terms) for the Share the Love Promotion are set out below. Please take the time to read the Terms as they contain important information about the Share the Love Promotion including eligibility criteria and key dates.

In these Terms, 'we' means AIA, 'you' or 'your' means the policy owner purchasing the eligible insurance policy and "Loved One" means the AIA Everyday - Life cover recipient you nominate.

Eligibility criteria

  1. Eligible Policy.

    To be eligible to gift the AIA Everyday - Life cover to a Loved One, you must apply via e-App and be issued with a new individual AIA Living risk policy (Personal or Business), AIA Private Health policy, ASB Lifestyle Security Plan or ASB Private Health policy during the eligibility period (Eligible Policy).

    Increases in cover (otherwise known as "top-up's") will be treated as an Eligible Policy only when your benefit has been fully underwritten, and that benefit(s) is issued under a new policy that meets the Eligible Policy criteria.

    For the avoidance of doubt, the following policies are not Eligible Policies:

    • AIA Start-Up Income Protection policy;
    • any paper-based policy application (i.e. the policy application must be submitted via e-App to be eligible);
    • any policy which replaces an existing Sovereign, ASB or AIA policy and/or benefit where there has been no underwriting;
    • any special event or future insurability increase;
    • a compulsory workplace risk product; or
    • any policy held by a customer who does not reside in New Zealand.
  2. Eligibility Period

    To be eligible to gift the AIA Everyday - Life cover to a Loved One:

    • AIA must receive your application for an Eligible Policy via e-App between 9:00am on 28 September 2020 and 11:59pm on 28 February 2021; and
    • the resulting policy(ies) from that application for insurance must be issued by AIA no later than 11:59pm on 30 April 2021; and
    • the Loved One has 30 days from when AIA contacts them with the offer to accept.
  3. Gifting AIA Everyday - Life cover to a Love One

    During the application process for insurance, you will be given the opportunity to nominate a Loved One to gift AIA Everyday - Life cover to. Provided they meet the eligibility criteria below, your Loved One will be offered $50,000 of life cover for 6 months for free.

    To be eligible for the AIA Everyday - Life cover your Loved One:

    • must be between the ages of 18 and 65; and
    • must be a New Zealand Resident who resides in New Zealand; and
    • cannot be you.

    To gift AIA Everyday - Life cover to a Loved One you must provide AIA with your Loved One's contact details (name, phone number and email address). Before you provide these details, it is important that you get your Loved One's consent to do so and that you let your Loved One know that AIA will be emailing them with an invite to accept the free AIA Everyday - Life cover. AIA will be relying on the consent you collect to contact your Loved One about the #ShareTheLove Promotion.

    It is important that you only provide AIA the contact details of family or friends that you know well, and that you know are interested in receiving the #ShareTheLove Promotion offer. AIA will send your Loved One an email invite once your Eligible Policy has been issued.

    By providing AIA with your Loved One's contact details, you give us permission:

    • on behalf of your Loved One, to send an initial invite and one or more reminders to your nominated Loved One; and
    • to include your name in our communications with your Loved One and disclose that you have nominated them as part of the #ShareTheLove Promotion.
  4. Loved One's acceptance of AIA Everyday - Life cover

    Once your Eligible Policy has been issued, AIA will send an email to the Loved One you have nominated explaining that they are eligible for free AIA Everyday - Life cover and outline any exclusions and special terms and conditions that apply. The Loved One will be asked to either accept or decline the offer.

    The Loved One, if they accept the offer of free AIA Everyday - Life cover, must provide AIA with their full name, date of birth, email address, contact number, residential address, New Zealand Resident status, and agree to the AIA Everyday - Life Policy Terms. www.aia.co.nz/share-the-love

  5. End of AIA Everyday - Life cover

    The AIA Everyday - Life cover is for a period of 6 months after which time the cover will cease. During the cover period your Loved One will be contacted by AIA and/or your Adviser or ASB Insurance Manager to discuss their insurance cover options.

Things you should know

  • There is a limit of one (1) AIA Everyday - Life cover per Eligible Policy issued.
  • You may nominate a Loved One for every Eligible Policy issued to you, however, your Loved One may only accept the AIA Everyday - Life cover once during the #ShareTheLove Promotion.
  • The AIA Everyday - Life cover is not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.
  • Policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions apply in relation to Eligible Policies and the AIA Everyday - Life cover.
  • All decisions made in relation to the #ShareTheLove Promotion (including whether or not you and/or your Loved One meet the eligibility criteria) will be made by AIA at its sole discretion and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • All personal information will be held in accordance with AIA's and ASB's (if applicable) current Privacy Statement which is available at https://www.aia.co.nz/en/index/privacy-statement.html and https://www.asb.co.nz/legal/privacy.html.
  • You are deemed to have accepted these Terms by providing your Loved One's contact details to AIA.
  • AIA reserves the right (subject to any applicable law) to cancel or modify the #ShareTheLove Promotion at any time by posting updated Terms at www.aia.co.nz/share-the-love
  • These Terms are governed by and are to be construed in accordance with New Zealand law and shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
  • All questions regarding eligibility for the #ShareTheLove Promotion and these Terms, or any dispute arising in connection with the #ShareTheLove Promotion should be addressed to AIA for resolution. Any decision made by AIA in relation to the #ShareTheLove Promotion (including in relation to any dispute) is final, and no correspondence will be entered into. Failure by AIA to enforce any of its rights does not constitute waiver of those rights.
